SEIL Bag.

Here is a totally cool backpack that goes by the name of SEIL Bag. It’s a backpack meant for cyclists and features an LED Display (flexible PCB) on its face. The bag is designed to work in two modes: Driving Mode and Emotion Mode. In the Driving Mode it shows left and right turn signals for the rider, which is controlled via a detachable controller. This makes it easy for the following traffic to know the riders intent. The cool-quotient is upped with the Emotion Mode; here you can display a variety of emoticons, just for the heck of it.

The bag also displays brake signal, cruse signal and emergency signal; the acceleration sensor detects speed and turns on stop signal automatically. The signals can be controlled intuitively; pushing the lever up, turns on left turn signal and vice versa.

A very classy bag with a lot of use, I really dig the emoticon aspect!

Jolly Good Event: ClankWorks to host Pittsburgh’s 1st Tweed Ride

This looks pretty sweet, hoping to go.

So maybe it’s not the first tweed ride in Pittsburgh, but it may very well be the first one in a really, really long time – maybe since our city was spelled “Pittsburg” sans the “H.” Don your finest tweed and join ClankWorks for a jolly good ride through town. The ride is set to meander through the Strip, Downtown, and Allegheny City (that’s the Northside for the Pittsburgh history illiterate), and end up at Piper’s Pub in the South Side, the city’s finest English pub and restaurant.

For those who don’t know what a tweed ride is, it’s a phenomenon that’s been sweeping the country since the early 1900’s. Riders dress in their finest tweed, mount their pedalcycles, and take a leisurely ride through town. Pipes and krimpets are encouraged.

Take a look at some shots from San Francisco’s Tweed Ride. You don’t need much except the willingness to have some fun!

Google Adds Bike Maps.

Google doesn't have the bike lanes, sharrows, or state designated bikeways integrated for Pittsburgh yet & they need some traffic flow metrics or something in their process, but this is still pretty awesome.

New bike!

I picked up this Vintage Raleigh Super Course MKII Road Bike in Ohio with Justin the other day. It needs some new tires and brake pads probably... but man am I excited to ride it! I probably haven't ridden in about a year! It's green too! :]
